Welcome back to Overcome to Become. I'm Dr Angela Buckley, and today we are continuing our explanation of setting boundaries, a crucial step in our journey towards personal empowerment. In this episode, we are focusing on creating a community of support as we develop and enforce our boundaries. As many of us have experienced, not everyone will come to our new boundaries with open arms. It can lead to challenging emotions and test our relationships, but having a network that supports and understands us can make all the difference. Why do we need a support system when setting boundaries? Implementing boundaries can feel isolating, especially when others are resistant to those changes. A supportive community offers encouragement, helps us process emotions and reassures us that we are not alone. Choosing to honor our needs means that some friendships may evolve or even come to an end. It's a difficult reality to face, but remember, genuine relationships will respect and support your journey towards self-care and authentic loving. So how do we build this crucial support system? One we need to identify your allies. Look for those who naturally respect your boundaries or have undergone similar journeys. Reach out to those people for insights and encouragement. Cultivate those relationships. Two be vulnerable and communicate. Sharing your boundary struggles and journeys with others can foster deeper connections. People cannot support you if they're not aware of what you're going through. Three find community spaces. Consider joining groups and forums that focus on personal growth and boundary settings. Online communities can be just as potent as offline ones. Reach out, get yourself a mentor, get yourself a coach. All of these people can help you support your developing community as you develop and honor your boundaries. Being a part of a community allows you to share your experiences and hear others. This exchange can be empowering and provide different perspectives on handling the resistance to change in your community.

Let's talk about navigating these relationship changes. Let's discuss the impact first that these boundaries can have on our relationships. As we assert our needs. Some of our friendships may shift and, while it's hard to accept, it is vital to focus on mutual respect and understanding. Some relationships may end, but those that remain will likely be stronger and more aligned to your vision and your values. It's about making room for connections that nourish you and your spirit. So change can be painful, but it's also a part of growth and it's important to mourn the shifts and the endings and then focus on nurturing relationships that will respect you and uplift you.

So how do we maintain and strengthen your support systems? Let's just have a talk about that. One stay connected. Regular check-ins with your support system can help reinforce these bonds. Two practice gratitude. Express appreciation to those who do support you. This can deepen your connection and encourage continued support. Three be open-minded. Be willing to receive feedback. Your support system can offer valuable insights that can often help refine your boundary setting process. So, as we continue today's episode and move along in this series for this season, remember the profound impact of a supportive community. Impact of a supportive community. Your vibe attracts your tribe. Lean on those who respect your journey and help navigate the challenges of setting boundaries.
